NPHIL HEIGHTENS VIGILANCE FOLLOWING CONFIRMED EBOLA CASE IN KENYA

Monrovia, Liberia | October 7, 2026 – The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) and the Ministry of Health (MoH) inform the public that Kenya has confirmed its first case of Ebola virus disease, involving a Kenyan citizen who had been residing in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) for approximately seven years.

The case residing in the DRC traveled through Uganda to Nairobi, Kenya, where he tested positive for the Bundibugyo Ebola virus and sadly passed away. Kenyan authorities have initiated a 21-day isolation and monitoring period for 28 close contacts and 23 flight passengers in accordance with national and international public health protocols.
